The art of winemaking is blending.
The motto is that “the whole is greater than the sum of the parts”.
Guided by an expert wine ambassador in the iconic Len Evans Museum, learn how to taste wine like a winemaker exploring the difference between wine varietals and their unique palate. The experience centres around the Great Australian blend of Cabernet Sauvignon and Shiraz.
Then using your newfound knowledge, combine different varietals to create your own signature red wine blend to bottle and take home.
The duration of the experience is 90 minutes long.

Tahbilk Estate invites you to step inside the historic Len Evans Museum and uncover The Secret Art of Wine Blending—a 90-minute, hands-on workshop where wine, knowledge, and creativity meet in the glass.
Designed to be intimate and interactive, with just eight participants per session, this experience offers the rare chance to taste like a winemaker and learn the intricacies of blending Australia’s iconic duo—Cabernet Sauvignon and Shiraz. You’ll be guided by one of Tahbilk’s expert wine ambassadors through a sensory exploration of each varietal: their structure, aroma, tannins, and flavour profile, both oaked and unoaked.
Oak, you’ll discover, is more than a flavour enhancer—it’s a sculptor of texture and depth. As you compare unoaked samples that spotlight pure varietal character with oak-aged expressions offering spice and silkiness, you’ll begin to understand how these layers come together in a harmonious blend.
Then the real fun begins. Using graduated cylinders, funnels, and precision measuring instruments from the Tahbilk laboratory, you’ll experiment with blending—adjusting proportions, tasting, and refining—until you’ve created a red wine that’s entirely your own. You'll bottle and seal it with a screw cap, complete with a custom label, ready to take home and enjoy.
Held Fridays, Saturdays, Sunday & Mondays at 11am in the atmospheric surrounds of the Len Evans Museum, this experience is not only educational—it’s incredibly rewarding. Whether you're a budding wine lover, a seasoned sipper, or simply looking for a meaningful way to spend time with someone special, this workshop delivers.
Looking for a thoughtful birthday or anniversary present? The Secret Art of Wine Blending makes a memorable gift—equal parts experience, indulgence, and keepsake.
