A robust and generous bouquet and palate speaks of dark berry and plum fruits with multilayered spice characters nestled in a supportive frame of firm grainy tannins enlivened by a fresh grape acidity.

    About this winei

    Enjoy Now to 2027/2032 | Cabernet Sauvignon 51% | Shiraz 49%

Sourced from our extensive old vine plantings, this 2017 Estate blend definitively takes its place in our premium reds portfolio.
A robust and generous bouquet and palate speaks of dark berry and plum fruits with multilayered spice characters nestled in a supportive frame of firm grainy tannins.
A long and flavoursome finish is enlivened by a fresh grape acidity that would see it sitting deliciously alongside a grilled bone-in rib eye with charred tomatillo chermoula.

Don’t take our word for it …

“Rustic charm in spades. An old school red done right. Scents of dark berries and ripe plums, cassis, Aussie bush and old campfire. Lovely stuff. The palate is rich and think, shaped with grippy, dusty tannins and finishes very long and palate staining, with more lingering, dusty spice.
    95 Points.
Mike Bennie | Wine Business Magazine

“This has morphed into a harmonious wine. Expect dark sweet plums and cherries doused in cinnamon and star anise with some herbal tones.
A savoury overlay, all earthy and ferrous with lovely, supple tannins”
    Jane Faulkner | Halliday 2021 Wine Companion | www.winecompanion.com.au

“A traditional Australian red wine type, worthy of much admiration.
Deeply coloured, it has tons of appeal on the nose with plummy fruit aromas woven through with hints of mocha, subtle mint and minerally earth. It tastes smooth and succulent with the sort of palate structure and depth that old vines provide. Ample tannins support a long, delicious aftertaste. 95/100”
    Ralph Kyte-Powell | therealreview.com

“Rich, showing some development and faint leathery aromas. There’s a powerful core of dark berry fruit, and the tannins are firm but fine.
    4 Stars”

“The complexity and intensity that comes from mature vines is evident in the 2017 ‘Old Vines’ Cabernet Shiraz, a classic Australian blend.
Rich and full-bodied, it has some earthiness and peppery spice offset by sweet plummy fruit and a touch of vanilla and coffee. With medium tannins, it’s incredibly smooth and elegant and we found it a beautiful match with a dish of fillet steak with red wine and mushrooms, cooked according to a recipe from Rick Stein’s Secret France. A heavenly wine for a heavenly dish.”
